More Opportunities to Take Action!

We need your help to get out the word and gather solid information about the proposed ADAGE biomass incinerator.

  • Volunteer to help us pass out flyers and find answers to questions we can share on this site.
  • Attend public meetings at the Port, City, and County to ask our officials to consider the impact their decisions will have on families.
  • Download one of our Fact Sheets on the Learn More page and print copies to share with your neighbors.
  • Tell a friend about our web site.
  • Put a sign in your yard to raise awareness of the proposed incinerator.
  • Write letters to the editor and to elected officials to let them know how you feel. Click here for names and addresses (Word format).
  • Mail a check to Incinerator Free Mason County, PO Box 282, Union WA 98592

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING A HEALTHY FUTURE FOR MASON COUNTY!

Please Contact Your Lawmakers and Tell Them You Want A Cleaner Future for Mason County That Includes:

  • Clear skies in Shelton not 640,000 tons a year of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions into our air.
  • Safe and healthy families not a 20-story smokestack within a mile of ball fields, schools and homes.
  • Profitable tourist and shellfish industries not acid rain decaying Puget Sound.
  • Safe roads not an extra 150 huge trucks rushing to the plant 24 / 7.
  • A balanced budget not expensive new road and utility projects that don’t benefit the taxpayer.
  • Sustainable management of our forests not uncontrolled consumption that threatens their survival.
  • Businesses that are locally owned and accountable to the community not a potential polluter owned by a consortium between a nuclear power company from France and a coal company from North Carolina.

The incinerator can burn trees faster than we can grow them.

All across the nation a grassroots movement is taking shape to challenge some of the claims behind biomass technology.

The American Lung Association, in response to a move to place a similar biomass plant in Florida, stated that the organization had serious reservations about the carbon dioxide and particulate emissions from biomass plants.

Due to a loophole in the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines, biomass plants are not subject to the same air emission standards as other power plants, such as coal-fired plants.

How far will property values fall when no one wants to live near the incinerator?

When you talk to people about the incinerator, remember the postive. We're doing this because we love Mason County and we want a great future for our kids.
